IPX Congress Member Profile
How did your career journey lead to change and configuration management?
By fluke if I’m honest! My first job out of University was at an insurance firm as an administrator. I’ve always liked a challenge and got a little bored if I’m honest, so I left to take on a position within the Aerospace company to do something completely different. My keen eye for detail and passion for learning and understanding more has led to quick progression within the team, from a Technical Data Administrator through to Configuration and Change Manager, and here I am today!
What was your introduction to CM2?
When I first started with Ontic, my first manager had undertaken CM2 training, and advised that it would be beneficial. The more involved I became with the change process and understanding how the Aerospace companies operate, the more critical an understanding of CM2 became.
How has CM2 been beneficial to your career growth?
A misunderstanding of CM2 is that it is primarily an Engineering function. Undertaking CM2 training has given me a much broader understanding of how a business functions in relation to Configuration Management, and that it’s an enterprise responsibility. I am now able to use my CM2 training to propose enterprise-wide solutions, benefiting the company as a whole.
What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?
I am currently studying towards a degree in Engineering. My Configuration Management experience and training have given me a solid foundation to build upon, and I think a level of Engineering expertise would compliment these greatly.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I have a degree in Criminology.
