TOPIC: FAST COMPANY: ACCELERATING PRODUCT-TO-MARKET AND CONFIGURE-TO-QUOTE PROCESSES WITH CONFIGURATION LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT
Increased competition and growing market complexity raise important challenges for all global companies, especially those who offer complex (configurable) products and/or services to their customers. In this talk we'll discuss how configuration lifecycle management (CLM) addresses two interrelated opportunities within an increasingly competitive landscape: how to get complex products to market faster, while at the same time empowering sales channels to respond to customers more quickly and with more competitive pricing for complex product/service offerings. We cover several concepts, including how CLM technology differs from and complements PLM systems, and how it can be used to power configure-price-quote (CPQ) systems that take all aspects of product configurability into account. Using CLM technology in this way enables companies to accelerate their product introduction cycles while also gaining important capabilities to increase the competitiveness of their sales quotations.
Tim leads global marketing and product strategy for Configit. He has worked with product configuration technologies for over 20 years and has participated in over 150 separate implementations. He was a founder of KPMG Peat Marwick's Configurator practice in the 90's where he led configurator software selections and implementations at leading companies in the Automotive, High-Tech, Aerospace, and Industrial Manufacturing industries. That role was followed by over a decade with Oracle, where he finished up as a Director in Oracle Consulting's EBS Configurator practice. At Oracle, Tim served primarily as Solution Architect on very large, complex configurator implementations, which focused on the Configure-to-Order process flow. Prior to joining Configit, Tim was Research Director at Gartner, where he was responsible for covering CPQ and Digital Commerce technologies.LinkedIn
