IPX Congress Member Spotlight
Martijn Dullaart, Lead Business Architect Configuration Management, ASML
CM2-Professional Certification, 2015
How did your career journey lead to change and configuration management?
It was not like I woke up one day and said to myself I want to work in configuration management. I rolled into it. During my master thesis I focussed on how the automotive industry could collaborate with design documentation while ensuring that everybody was using the same information in a distributed environment. My first job was about implementing PLM systems which led me to even building home grown PLM systems. Over time the focus in the programs shifted more to configuration management as the foundation for PLM.
What was your introduction to CM2?
In 2013 I was working at Philips in the Change and Configuration Management program and we were looking for a common language. Sometimes we had meetings taking hours and realizing at the end we were talking about completely different things. We decided we needed to get trained in CM2 and I already was familiar with the book CMII for Business Process Infrastructure from Vince Guess. That is when Ray Wozny came over to train and inspire us and ever since I have been living and breathing CM2.
How has CM2 been beneficial to your career growth?
CM2 brought insights that I use every day and drove me to start writing my blog posts on mdux.net
. It also led me to my current position at ASML.
What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?
Currently focussing on improving my influencing skills. All the CM knowledge in the world will not convince people to change.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I’m an introverted CM nerd whose current favorite superhero is Captain Marvel. As she is a real inspiration for my daughters. Guess what outfit one of my daughters is wearing coming Halloween?
What do you do for fun?
Go out and about with my family and of course play the CM Game.
