My career path into Configuration Management was a bit of an accident. I was volunteered to help a struggling department with a particular task (Digitizing Technical Debt), a task which I excelled in. I liked the people and the work; they asked if I could stay in the department to help with other tasks and it developed from there.

I wanted to learn more about the new role I found myself in and so took several internal courses, as well as read many books on configuration and change management. It wasn’t until I joined my current organization that it was suggested that I take a more formal course on configuration management. The course run by IPX was suggested as the best one on offer and so I signed up. I learnt so much on the course and made some great connections.

CM2 has helped me to work in a more collaborative way, managing different functions and stakeholders and applying the right level of configuration management with the view to always better.

Mentoring staff within my organization. I really enjoy this aspect of my role and have been lucky enough to have had several mentees so far. The aspect I enjoy the most about mentoring is seeing people succeed in the goals they set for themselves. 

Just over a decade ago I badly damaged my rotator cuff in my shoulder. The injury was so bad that I couldn’t even lift my newborn daughter. After months of physiotherapy and years of careful training, I now enjoy powerlifting weights in the gym and able to bench press 140KG (309lbs)

I enjoy playing video games, which I seem to have passed on to my children. I also enjoy having days out with my family, we try to do a different activity every time.
